Lord Mayor Announces Brisbane Economic Development Industry Engagement Forums
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk, Brisbane City Council and its economic development agency Brisbane Marketing, is consulting with local businesses through a series of three Economic Development Industry Engagement industry forums to support businesses, grow our economy and create jobs.
The industry forums are headed by Cr Quirk, Ian Klug, Chairman of Brisbane Marketing and the recently formed Economic Development Steering Committee representing both large firms and SMEs from Brisbane’s key industry sectors.
“This committee will engage with the Brisbane business community through industry forums, and develop some tangible initiatives that Council can implement to ensure Brisbane remains a city of choice for doing business in the Asia Pacific region,” said Lord Mayor Graham Quirk.
“These forums are an ideal way for Brisbane businesses to work strategically with local government to capture clear deliverables that Council can implement in the short and long term to deliver on our vision for a prosperous, inclusive, sustainable, friendly and globally competitive city,” he said.
“I have also asked the Steering Committee to increase industry consultation and participation in an update of Council’s Brisbane Economic Development Plan by November.”
