Lord Mayor Graham Quirk’s strategic national advertising campaign, themed "Brisbane is Growth" developed as part of his blueprint to encourage economic development and create jobs, has commenced with prominent placements in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian.
Cr Quirk said the strategic advertising campaign, themed "Brisbane is Growth", targets business leaders and decision makers in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, highlighting Brisbane’s growing and robust $114 billion economy.
"Through this campaign, I’m letting interstate investors know that now’s the time to share in our future as one of the world’s most prosperous cities," Cr Quirk said.
"As Lord Mayor, the people of Brisbane’s interests are paramount in my mind and I will continue to advocate on their behalf to build local growth and create spending and investment opportunities.
"Brisbane has a unique window of opportunity with one Council, one set of rules, a population of one million people and a $3 billion budget.
"This strategic advertising campaign directly targets interstate businesses and encourages them to invest in our city which will help our economy almost double during the next 20 years."
Cr Quirk said that in other capital cities, the local council covered not much more than the CBD whereas Brisbane City Council had almost 1400 sq km.
The campaign also aims to raise Brisbane to top of mind awareness with key decision makers to drive new business leads from Brisbane’s key industry sectors.
"Part of my vision for a prosperous Brisbane is to ensure my Council continues to work closely with industry to leverage a strong return on our ongoing infrastructure investment creating jobs, attracting the world’s talent, driving investment and encouraging new enterprise and export growth," he said.
The newspaper advertisements are designed to attract potential investors to Brisbane and scheduled over the next two weeks in The Australian, Australian Financial Review, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The West Australian and emphasise the advantages of doing business and the convenience of working with Brisbane City Council.
