Whether it’s casting a line or cruising Queensland’s waters in style, this year’s Brisbane Boat Show from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 August, will have something for everyone as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre will host all the action taking place bringing the latest in boating luxury, water sports, fishing and accessories. A special feature will be the chance to take a stroll down memory lane as boats and engines from throughout the modern age go on display to help celebrate the 50th anniversary.
The show promises to deliver a number of industry and Queensland firsts, including the Unsinkable 370 Outrage by Boston Whaler. Returning to the fishing stage in 2010 is the invitational Bream Fishing tournament. Up to a dozen teams of anglers will be aiming to land the $5,000 prize money. Teams will be delivering their live catches directly to the fishing stage.
Marine Queensland’s Events Manager Jason Plant said 50 years was a real milestone and testament to the fact that Queenslanders and indeed Australians are true water lovers.
“We’re inviting all those who have a passion for getting on the water to come along and experience this state’s largest indoor marine show. There are delicious seafood recipes, fishing tips and demonstrations as well as amazing deals on water craft right through to world-class displays. It’s a must see on the marine calendar,” he said.
“If your interest lies above or below the water, you’ll find it at this year’s Brisbane Boat Show. It’s been tough in recent years with the financial crunch, but now water sports and hobbies are very high on the agenda again as affordable fun for the whole family.”
Even the kids have been taken care of at the Brisbane Boat Show with the return of the Kids Marine Zone. Here, children aged five and up can climb the rock-wall and learn how to fish like a professional.
