Funding and grants
Tourism Queensland and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council have joined forces to pool the listing of tourism specific funding opportunities. The Tourism Assistance Database (TAD) provides information on available funding programs and sources of information and advice on tourism.
The TAD also provides:
• information on relevant funding programs and grants for the tourism industry; and
• advice, hints and tips on submitting a funding application.
Funding can be sourced from a variety of different avenues such as:
• banks;
• building societies;
• credit unions;
• finance companies; and
• Australian, state or local government agencies.
It can take many forms, including:
• loans for businesses, community organisations, employers, registered training organisations or individuals;
• overdrafts;
• grants (which are usually one-off funding provided by an organisation or agency);
• programs (which are usually an ongoing source of funding); and
• partnerships.
Depending on the source of the funding, it can be accessed by a range of organisations or individuals, for example:
• not-for-profit organisations;
• community organisations;
• local government authorities;
• registered businesses (GST applicable); and
• individuals.
Tourism Queensland has developed The Grants Guide which goes through the four key steps to accessing grants, including finding the right grant for the project.
Grants may be used to do a project, allow growth or increase the effectiveness of privately invested funds. The grant space is packed with funds that vary in size, complexity and accessibility.
Grants typically range from $10,000 (AUD) to $2,000,000 (AUD) some requiring the business to provide part-funding and others not requiring additional funds from the proponent.
